Her training included traditional Korean dance, ballet, and modern dance. She immigrated in 1949 to Hawaii and established a dance studio in the early years of the following decade. In 1959, she began teaching at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in the Korean dance style.The Halla Pai Huhm Korean Dance Studio is "the only continuous source of Korean dance and music in the United States".
